Difference between A Line , Rectangle & Basic Dress

All of these dresses are reversible back-to-front and made from 100% Linen.
All dresses are great for summer and have low cut underarms.
All have square shaped neckline
They can be worn with undergarments but there is more space in the Rectangle dress for thicker undergarments.

Rectangle Dress: Apron style dress, no pockets, protruding side panels, lower cut under arms with loop and tie feature

A Line Dress: Triangle shaped silhouette, side pockets, more fitted to chest area, pointed underarms with optional fixed tie, no tie or modular waist tie

Basic Dress: Curved underarms, side pockets, flared body silhouette

Fabrics we use / How we use them

The Linen (Flax) fibres used in our fabrics are grown in Holland. This is where the plant naturally flourishes and doesn’t need excessive water or degrade the soil.

Linen also has useful by-products such as Linseed and Flaxseed.

The fabrics we use are produced in China (Oeko-Tex certified) which our suppliers know personally for many years and visit annually to ensure the mills meet standards of dye and work ethics. Unfortunately there is no alternative available to us for locally milled fabric in Australia.

We favour linen and hemp fabrics (sometimes silks, wools and cottons too as biodegradable alternatives). Linen and hemp are the least demanding fibres to grow in terms of water consumption, time and pesticides. We try to avoid synthetic and cotton fabrics as we are aware of the ethical concerns of their manufacturing; but we do offer them if it is in the customers preference.

We use second hand or archived dress fabrics for all tests, toiles and costumes to avoid buying raw calico (a cheap cotton material commonly used for dressmaking and not suitable to wear).

We use all of our off cut fabrics to create new scrap garments or to utilise as stuffing in our Beba’s or costuming. We also collect salvaged scrap materials from other seamstresses and businesses in our area. We accept all fabric donations.

All garments are made in Boorloo which reduces transportation energy/waste from packaging and shipping. Most of our garments are sold locally.

FLORIST

Materials in our Designs

In our studio we make a concerted effort to utilize local and home grown materials. Here in Boorloo/ Perth a lot of the euro centric flowers like roses etc are not grown here but flown in and treated with heavy pesticides at quarantine which we prefer not to encourage especially when there is an abundance of amazing plants grown here .

Events

We do provide florals for events , weddings, parties, public & private events etc just email us to organize a time to speak further about your occasion.

Delivery

We deliver to the Boorloo / Perth CBD regions only. If you event and or deliver request is outside of these local bounds please get in touch to discuss further.

If nobody is home to receive your order we will look to leave in a safe location and contact you to confirm when are where your order was left.
